This Project Uses a Science-based Approach to Improve Community Wildfire Safety. the Project Will Fund the Cooperator, a Nonprofit Center That Partners With Local Wildfire Organizations to Develop Science-based Approaches to (1)CREATE Safe and Resilient Communities That Are Prepared to Evacuate in the Event of a Wildfire, (2) Reduce Wildfire Risk on Properties Before a Fire to Support Safe and Effective Response, (3) Provide Data in Support of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Services Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation Programs, and (4) Leverage Public-private Partnerships to Bridge Wildfire Research and Practice. the Process of Working Closely With Wildfire Practitioner Partners Throughout the Project Will Result in More Efficient, Evidence-based Wildfire Education Programs. the Project Will Deliver Local Wildfire Organizations (described Below) With Community-specific Data Collection Products, Training, Resulting Data and Analyses, Reports, and Tailored Outreach Materials for Community Residents. the Cooperator on This Project Will Implement Projects in Two New Rural Communities, Working Collaboratively With Several Wildfire Organizations and Fire Departments. the Two Project Locations Are: 1. Grand County, Colorado Including Five Participating Fire Protection. This Portion of the Project Was Recommended by the Grand County Community Mitigation Assistance Team. 2. Stillwater County, Montana. the Organizations Requesting the Project Are Part of a Local Public-private Partnership in Stillwater County. This Portion of the Project Was Driven by a Need to Increase Resident Engagement With Local Wildfire Education Programs (e.g., Onsite Visits, Community Meetings) in Rural Montana Communities.the Work Will Be Completed Between September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2028.THE Primary Beneficiaries of This Project Are the Local Partner Organizations and the Communities They Serve. the Project Directly Aligns With the Chiefs Letter of Intent and the Usda Secretarys Memo by Providing Actionable Information That Strengthens Local Wildfire Education Programs, More Effectively Engaging Residents, and Encouraging Wildfire Risk Reduction and Evacuation Preparation.
