An Estimated 62 Foster Grandparents Will Serve in K-12 Classrooms, Head Start Centers, and Pre-school Programs/day Care Programs. Some of Their Activities Will Include Reading With Students, Phonetic Letter Recognition, Listening to a Child Read, Modeling Social Interactions, and Providing Encouragement to Complete Assignments. the Primary Focus of This Project Is Education. at the End of the Three-year Grant, 256 Children Will Be Identified to Receive One-on-one Support From a Foster Grandparent of Which 205 Will Receive the Minimum Dosage of 3 Months of One-on-one Support. of Those Receiving the Minimum Dosage, 175 Children Will Show an Improvement in Literacy or Math or School Readiness as Measured by Teacher Pre- and Post-observances. the CNCS Federal Investment of $219,535 Will Be Supplemented by $180,297 From the Michigan Aging and Adult Services Agency.
