Ywca Tri-county Area Will Manage a Foster Grandparent Program in Montgomery County, Pa., With 78 Foster Grandparent Volunteers Placed in Outcome Assignments With Disadvantaged Children and Youth. Their Volunteer Assignments Will Include Reading to Preschool Children, Working on Curriculum-based Literacy Projects With Preschool Children, Mentoring K-6 Children, and Tutoring Out-of-school Youth Age 17-21. the Primary Focus of This Project Is Education. at the End of the Three-year Project, 96 Children Will Demonstrate Gains in Literacy Skills, 138 K-6 Youth Will Improve School Attendance, and 2 Out-of-school Youth Will Improve Academics in a High School Equivalency Program. the Year 1 Total Budget for the Program Is $555,034. the CNCS Federal Investment of $504,577 Will Be Supplemented by a $50,457 Local Match.
