City Year National Direct Proposes to Have 816 Full-time Americorps Members Who Will Provide Full-day Education Services to Students in 85 Public Schools in Eight Cities - Buffalo, Ny, Little Rock, Ar, Milwaukee, Wi, Providence, Ri, San Jose, Ca, Tulsa, Ok, Kansas City, Mo, and Chicago, Il. at the End of the First Program Year, as Student Success Coaches, the Americorps Members Will Mentor 6,000 Students, 1,500 of Whom Will Improve Literacy Skills, 900 Will Improve Math Skills, 440 Will Improve Attendance, and All Will Be Supported in the Development of Social-emotional Skills That Improve School Engagement. Members Will Also Provide Extended Day and School Climate Activities. in Addition, the Americorps Members Will Leverage 3,000 Volunteers Who Will Be Engaged in Service Projects That Benefit Our School Communities. This Program Will Focus on the CNCS Focus Area of Education. the CNCS Investment of $13,300,800 Will Be Matched With $13,300,800, $9,136,792 in Public Funding and $4,164,008 in Private Funding.
