Executive Summary Delta Community Action Foundation, Incorporated Is a Private, Non-profit Corporation Organized for the Purpose of Planning, Coordinating, and Executing Programs Authorized by Federal, State, and Local Entities to Alleviate and Attempt to Eradicate Poverty in Southern Oklahoma. the Mission of Delta Community Action Agency Is to Promote Self-sufficiency Among Our Citizens to Secure the Opportunities to Work, to Live in Decency, and With Dignity. Delta Community Action Foundation Has Been a Proud Sponsor of the Foster Grandparent Program Since the Early 1980'S an Estimated 82 FGP Volunteers Will Serve. of This Number, 82 FGP Volunteers Will Be Placed in Outcome Assignments. the Primary Focus Area of This Project Is Education. Our Volunteers Will Seek to Improve Educational Outcomes for Disadvantaged/at-risk Children. Delta FGP Volunteers Will Engage in a Variety of Service Activities to Ensure the Success of These Outcomes. Some FGS Serve in a Mentor Capacity to Aid Disadvantaged Children. FGS Also Provide Care for Infants and Toddlers in Head Start/early Head Start Programs. Volunteers Ensure Positive Social Growth, Emotional Development, and School Readiness. Other FGS Will Provide One-on-one Interaction With Older Students While Under Direct Supervision of Classroom Teachers and Will Help Students Develop Reading, Math, Writing, Spelling, and Comprehension Skills as Well as Help Improve Academic Engagement. the Anticipated Outcome at the End of the Grant Period Will Be That Assigned Students Demonstrate Improvements in Developmental Areas in Which They Need Assistance. the CNCS Federal Investment of $518,991 Will Be Supplemented by Sponsorships, Local Donations, and In-kind Donations Totaling $48,503 the First Year of the Grant and Will Be Matched by 10% the Following Two Years. Delta Community Action Foundation, Inc. Will Be Focusing on Locating Additional Funding Resources Throughout the Year.
