Approximately 66 Nco Foster Grandparents (FG) Will Tutor and Mentor 165 Identified Special Needs or Ecomonically Disadvantaged Children in the Primary Focus Area of Education. Service Will Be Provided to Preschoolers, Elementary and Secondary Students, and to Youth Who Are Incarcerated or Have Been in the Juvenile Justice System. FG Volunteers Will Serve at 31 Sites. FGS Engage in a Variety of Service Activities That Lead to Success in the Pre-literacy, Literacy, Math Factors and Social and Emotional Growth. at the End of the 12-MONTH Grant, North Coast Opportunities (NCO) Anticipates That 75% of Students Performing Below Basic Academic Levels Will Improve to at Least Basic Levels and Perform at Grade Level (PM 2.1 Tutoring Public Schools). Preschool and Head Start Students Will Demonstrate Improved Pre-literacy Skills (PM 1.1 Assisting in the Classroom, and PM 1.2 Assisting in Classroom-head Start). CNCS Federal Investment of $424,011 Will Be Supplemented by $42,500 in Cash and In-kind Matching Contributions.
