An Estimated 100 Volunteer Service Year (VSY) Volunteers Will Serve in the Foster Grandparent Program Sponsored by Catholic Charities West Michigan (CCWM) Providing Services in Muskegon, Lake, and Newaygo Counties. the Foster Grandparent Program Volunteers Will Be Stationed Throughout These Counties Addressing Critical Community Needs. the Primary Focus Area for This Project Is Education. Volunteers Will Tutor Over 600 Children With Special or Exceptional Needs, or Who Are in Circumstances That Limit Their Academic, Social, or Emotional Development, Within the Program's Three-county Service Area. by the Conclusion of the Three-year Grant Cycle Over 1,800 Students Will Demonstrate Increased Academic Performance and Student Engagement in Learning, Aided by Foster Grandparent Program Volunteers' Involvement, Mentoring, and Tutoring. Volunteers Will Serve in 23 Station Locations Including Head Start Programs and K-12 School Districts Located Throughout the Three-county Service Areas Providing Approximately 104,400 Hours of Service Annually Achieving an Impact on Target Outcome Areas. the Three-year Commitment From the Corporation for National Community Service (CNCS) to Invest $387,021 Annually Will Be Supplemented With the State of Michigan, Fremont Area Community Foundation (facf), and United Way Muskegon and Newaygo County Funding.
