Foster Grandparent PRGM-Snyder

The Union-snyder Agency on Aging, Inc. Is Requesting Federal Funding in the Amount of $530,164 for the 2020-2021 Grant Year. Non Federal Funding Will Be at a Level of No Less Than $70,307. the Request Is for 83 Vsys. Eighty-three Foster Grandparents Will Be Placed in Outcome-based Assignments. the Foster Grandparent Program of Central Pennsylvania Will Serve Sites in the Following Six Counties: Columbia, Juniata, Mifflin, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union. Thirty-eight Volunteer Stations Will Be Served. Children From Infancy Through 21 Years of Age With Documented and Specific Special Needs Will Be Served. the Community Needs That Will Be Addressed Are Primarily in the Areas of Education and Mentoring at All Age Levels. Primary Focus Will Be on Math and Reading Skills and Deficiencies in Regards to K-12 Success. Each Year the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment Scores Will Be Reviewed in Order to See the Areas of Deficiency That Need to Be Addressed in the Public Schools. Pre-k Counts and Head Start Curriculum and Goals Will Be Acquired From Their Sites in Order to Meet the Needs of the Children. Activities Done by the Foster Grandparents Will Include Educational Tutoring in All Areas (with a Focus on Math and Reading), Demonstrating and Promoting Proper Social Skills, Assisting With Self-help, Fine, and Gross Motor Skills. the Program Will Serve a Minimum of Three Pre-k Counts Classrooms. Ten Preschools and Child Care Centers Will Benefit From the Participation of Foster Grandparent Volunteers. There Are Eleven School Districts Within These Six Counties. Head Start Programs That Will Be Assisted Are Located in Juniata, Mifflin, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties. at the End of the 12-MONTH Performance Period, It Is Anticipated That 75% of the Children Served Will Demonstrate Improvement in One or More of the Designated Performance Measures.
