Henry Street Settlement Has Been Providing Comprehensive, Integrated, and High-quality Services in Health Care, Social Services, and the Arts Since 1893. Through Our Senior Services Division, Henry Street Has Continued to Provide Life-saving Interventions for Older Adults Throughout the New York City Area, Including as the Administrator of the City-wide Senior Companion Program (SCP), the Largest Meals on Wheels Program in Nyc, Our Henry Street Settlement Senior Center, and Our Vladeck Cares/naturally Occurring Retirement Community (norc). the Current Coronavirus Pandemic Has Shown the Necessity of Our Services to Seniors, and Our Programs Have Continued to Operate at a High Level, Providing Meals, Conducting Wellness Checks, Nursing Visits, and Companionship Phone Calls to More Than 2,000 Seniors. Now, More Than Ever, It Is Critical to Have Programs Like SCP That Can Assist Seniors and Ensure They Don't Become Isolated and Receive Vital Services. Henry Street Is Proud to Operate Our SCP Program and to Submit This Renewal Application. Over the Grant Period of July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023, Henry Street Will Recruit, Train, and Provide Volunteer Opportunities for 105 SCP Volunteers. All of Our SCP Volunteers Will Be Placed in Outcome Assignments in the SCP Primary Focus Area of Healthy Futures, Aging in Place. SCP Activities Will Include, But Not Be Limited to, Providing Companionship, Escorting Seniors to Medical Appointments and Recreational Activities, and Assisting Them With Tasks of Daily Living. If Social Distancing Requirements Are Still in Effect Later in 2020, Our Senior Companions Will Conduct Phone Calls Rather Than In-person Visits, Which We Have Done Successfully Over the Past Month. Senior Companions Are Trained to Identify Client Needs, to Provide Social Stimulation, to Be Familiar With Local Resources, and to Connect Clients With Their Supervisors If and When Clients Are in Need of Immediate Intervention or Case Management. at the End of Our Continued Grant, Henry Street Anticipates That 90% of Our Senior Companion Clients Will Report Having Increased Social Ties or Perceived Social Support, in Accordance With the SCP Performance Measure H9A. the CNCS Federal Investment of $537,832 Will Be Supplemented by $77,625 From In-kind and Private Sources.
