Woody Biomass Can Be Turned Into Usable Energy, at Scale, When Sized to Sub-millimeter Particles. However, Producing Biomass Particles in the Sub-millimeter Range Is Challenging, Slow, Highly Energy-intensive, and Difficult to Scale for Commercial Use, as Demonstrated by Both Operational Experience and Existing Literature. This Situation Presents a Significant Opportunity for Improvement Through a Disciplined Systems Engineering Approach.the Primary Goal of This Project Is to Optimize the Entire Size Reduction and Drying System for Producing Micronized Biomass Feedstock. We Aim to Reduce Energy Consumption While Enhancing Feedstock Performance for Conversion Into Biofuels and Bioproducts. Our Objective Is to Develop an Optimal Process for Producing Biomass Feedstock With an Average Particle Size of 200-500 µm at a Minimum Scale of 5 Metric Tons Per Hour, Suitable for Direct Commercial Use in Community-scale Facilities, and Scalable to Refinery Scale Facilities.the Economic and Social Benefits of This Technology Are Substantial. for Example, Replacing Just 10% of the Coal Used in the United States With Woody Biomass Could Create a 40 Million Metric Ton Annual Market for Such Biomass. Additionally, the Development and Commercialization of an Efficient Feedstock Pre-processing System Are Crucial, Especially Given the Demand for Fine Feedstocks in Various Biofuel Pathways.by Converting Forest and Agricultural Waste Into Affordable Biomass Powders, We Can Boost Rural Economies Nationwide and Improve Community Health by Reducing Smoke From Field Burning, Wildfires, and Forest Management Fires.
