We Propose to Implement a Novel Food, Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Human Sciences (FANH) Cohort to the Existing Texas Tech University Program in Inquiry and Investigation (PI2) Undergraduate Research Experience and Recruit Hispanic Students to Participate in All Program Cohorts. This Proposal Furthers University Objectives Related to Educating and Empowering a Diverse Student Body, Increasing Research Innovation and Impact, and Solving Complex Community Problems. Our Proposal Addresses the Following Specific Usda-nifa Educational Need Areas: a) Curricula Design, Materials Development, and Library Resources via Pedagogical Alignment Across PI2 Cohorts to Feature Curricula Based on Inquiry-based and Experiential Learning and Gaining Experience in Basic Research Methods as Well as the Most Recent Technologies and Advances in Each COHORT'S Subject Matter; E) Student Experiential Learning by Rooting the Curriculum in Inquiry-based and Experiential Learning; and F) Student Recruitment and Retention Especially Targeting Hispanic and Outstanding, Underrepresented Students to Increase Diversity and Quality Across All PI2 Cohorts. in Addition to Data Collected and Prepared for Publication by PI2 Cohorts as Part of Their Inquiry-based Curricula, Pedagogical Evaluation Will Analyze Connection Between Student Experience and Changing Scientific Attitudes and Proficiencies Throughout Participation. a MS Student in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications Will Help Shape and Implement Program Evaluation, and an Estimated 400 Undergraduate Students (20 Students × 5 Cohorts × 4 Project Years) Will Benefit From Participation in the Program, Support of Independent Research via Research Stipends and Travel Grants, and Leadership Opportunities Associated With a Newly-incorporated Student Club Associated With PI2
