Executive Summary for More Than 54 Years Since Its Founding in the City of Newark, the Mission of United Community Corporation (UCC) Has Been to Assist Impoverished, Homeless, Low-income, Disadvantaged, At-risk Individuals and Their Families Through a Continuum of Care, Social Services, Life Skills Training and Referrals to Partnering Agencies, Which Will Motivate and Empower Them to Achieve Economic Self-sufficiency and Stability While Enhancing Their Quality of Life and Standard of Living. the Proposed Ucc Vista Project Aligns With the Fy 2019 CNCS Focus Area of Economic Opportunity, Which Is Comprised of the Priorities of Employment/workforce Development and Housing. These Are Two Primary Areas of Need That Ucc Addresses in the City of Newark. the Ucc Vista Project Goal Is to Help Individuals Grow Out of Poverty by Identifying the Most Critical Needs in Our Community Through an Updated and Comprehensive Needs Assessment With Community Input That Will Assist Ucc in the Re-alignment Where Necessary of Its Existing Programs and Identifying New or Emerging Needs That Are Barriers to Building Sustainable Solutions to the War on Poverty. Ucc Serves Approximately 9,000 Unduplicated Clients Each Year That Will Benefit From This Vista Project. It Our the Belief That the Number of Clients Served Will Increase in Years 2 and 3 of the Vista Project as New Community Needs Are Identified, Ucc Capacity Is Increased, Existing Ucc Programs Are Re-aligned Where Necessary and New Programs Implemented as a Result of the New Community Needs Assessment. the Five (5) Vista Members That Ucc Is Requesting Will Contribute to This Goal During the First Year of the Project by Performing Important Activities Such as Survey Development, Collection and Evaluation of Data, Community Outreach, Engaging Stakeholders and Working With Ucc Staff on Program Deliveries.
