The Mission of Marquette County's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Is Enriching the Lives of Older Adults by Matching Their Skills and Interests With Volunteer Needs in Our Non-profit Community. an Estimated 40 RSVP Volunteers Will Serve in the Healthy Futures Focus Area by Providing Transportation to Medical Appointments for Isolated, Frail and Homebound Seniors Over the Age of 60. at the End of the Grant Cycle an Estimated 175 Unduplicated Isolated/frail/homebound Seniors Will Be Transported by 40 Volunteers to at Least 750 Medical Appointments Each Year. Volunteer Drivers Will Provide an Estimated 60 Transports Each Month, Serving an Average of 2 Hours Per Transport. the Volunteer Driver Will Assist the Senior Client to the Vehicle If Necessary, Transport Them to Their Appointment, Escort Them Into the Medical Office and Then Return the Client to Their Home, Stopping at the Pharmacy If Needed. Twenty Volunteers Will Be Engaged in the Veteran Focus Area and Will Assist at Area Veteran Organizations by Making Pasties and Working Bingo and Other Activities, Visiting Veteran Residents of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans and Nursing Homes; and Helping With Coordination of Volunteers at the Organizations. the Veterans History Project Uses Volunteers to Conduct Interviews With Veterans, Which Are Recorded, Transcribed, Copied and Then Given to the Veteran and Sent to the Library of Congress. Community Priorities Will Be Addressed by the Remaining 192 RSVP Volunteers. Volunteers Will Visit and Make Items for Nursing Home Residents; Assist at Congregate Meal Sites, With Newsletters and Activities at Senior Centers; Offer Information, Work at Gift Shops and Fill Other Volunteer Needs at Hospitals; and Help Community Agencies With Clerical Tasks and Mailings. the CNCS Federal Investment of $40,000 -- or $1,000 Per Volunteer for Each of the 40 Unduplicated Federally Funded Volunteers Proposed in This Application -- Will Be Supplemented by $110,433 in Non-federal Resources.
