An Estimated 218 RSVP Volunteers Will Serve. of This Number, 134 RSVP Volunteers Will Be Placed in Outcome Assignments. Some of Their Activities Will Include Tutoring Low-income Students and Those With Special Needs, Reading to Low Income Head Start Children and Providing Education to Their Parents About the Importance of Reading to Their Preschoolers, Delivering Meals to Home-bound Residents, Transportation for Low Income Seniors to Enable Them to Visit the Doctor or Grocery Store and Providing Skills Based Volunteers to Help Build the Capacity of Area Nonprofit Agencies to Improve Their Efficiencies. the Primary Focus Area of This Project Is Education. at the End of the Three-year Grant, 85% of Students Participating in the RSVP America Reads Program Will Demonstrate Improved Academic Performance in Literacy; and 77% of Participating Head Start Students Will Demonstrate Gains in Literacy Skills. the CNCS Federal Investment of $133,903 Will Be Supplemented by $67,423
