Comprehend, Inc., a 501 (C)3 Private Nonprofit Organization, Is the Lead Agency on This Grant. Comprehend, Inc. Has Provided a Foster Grandparent Program in the Buffalo Trace Region Since the Late 1970'S. This Equates to 39 Years of Experience and Knowledge Serving the Buffalo Trace Region Schools and Children. This Grant Request Will Allow an Estimated 50 FGP Volunteers to Serve in 15 Stations in the Buffalo Trace Region. the FGP Provides Volunteer Services in K-12 Education Programs and School Readiness in Educational Facilities. the Primary Focus Area of This Project Is the Buffalo Trace Region (mason, Lewis, Robertson, Fleming and Bracken Counties). the Buffalo Trace Region Is Considered Part of the Appalachia Region of Eastern Kentucky. at the End of the 12-MONTH Performance Period the Foster Grandparents Will: Tutor 120 Children in Reading and Provide One-on-one Assistance to 80 Preschoolers to Gain Age-appropriate Learning Skills and Pre-reading Skills So That They Will Be Prepared to Move on to the Next Progressive Level. the CNCS Federal Investment of $227,350 Will Be Supplemented by $100,111 of In-kind Contributions From Comprehend, Inc.
