Celebrating Over 40 Years of Service, the Agency's Mission Statement Is, "to Support and Educate Adults and Their Families to Maintain Independence and to Age Well at Home and in the Community." the Sponsoring Agency Is Applying for a Senior Companion Grant and Requesting 40 Vsys. the CNCS Federal Investment of $195,296 Will Be Supplemented by Community Senior Services Investment of $52,759. an Estimated 33 to 40 Senior Companion Program Volunteers Will Serve. the Primary Focus Area of This Project Is for Independent Living Outcomes. Volunteer Activities Will Be Concentrated on Companionship and Transportation, and Through These Activities, Volunteers Will Provide and Connect Seniors With Services Needed, Alleviate Social Isolation, Help to Maintain Independent Living, and Provide Temporary Relief From the Stresses of Caregiving. the Project Will Attain These Goals Through the Recruitment of Qualified Volunteers, Providing Valuable Ongoing Education to the Volunteers, Maintaining Strong Relationships With Volunteer Stations, and Understanding the Needs of Current and Prospective Clients. at the End of the Three-year Grant, Those Receiving Volunteer Services Are Expected to Have Delayed Placement at Limited Assisted Living Settings, Expended Fewer Health Care Dollars as a Result of Delayed Placement, Increased Socialization, and Reduced Dependence on Family Members and Caregivers.
