Inca Currently Offers RSVP Services in Carter, Johnston and Murray Counties in Rural Southeastern Oklahoma Since 1985. Inca-rsvp Is Looking to Expand Its Service Area to Include the Additional Rural Non-served Southern Oklahoma Counties of Atoka, Coal, Garvin, Love, Marshall, and Pontotoc. Our Goal Is to Have 120 Volunteers. of This Number, 80 RSVP Volunteers Will Be Working in Fifteen Key Objectives of Which Nine Will Have Outcome Assignments. Some of the Volunteer Activities Will Include 3 Unduplicated Volunteers Working With Local Head Start Programs to Increase the Number of Assistants in Classrooms. Another Emphasis Will Be to Have 24 Unduplicated Volunteers Offering Transportation And/or Companionship to Seniors Who Are Considered Aging-in-place by Doing a Regular Check in, Transporting to and From Medical Appointments and Offering Assistance With Living Independently. Inca-rsvp Will Have 6 Unduplicated Volunteers Partner With Local Schools, and Civic Organizations to Offer an Enhanced Substance Abuse Education Program in the Prevention of Opioid Abuse. Volunteers Will Help to Prepare, Present, and Distribute Substance Abuse Prevention Information to Area Youth. in Addition, to Promote the Safety and Welfare of Older Citizens in the Area, RSVP Volunteers Will Educate This Vulnerable Population on Proper Storage and Disposal of Prescription Medication to Avoid Becoming a Target of Theft And/or Abusive Treatment. Inca-rsvp Will Have 2 Unduplicated Volunteers Assist Low-income Families With Tax Preparation Through Vita Program. Inca-rsvp Will Have 12 Unduplicated Volunteers Working Closely With Project Staff to Set Guidelines and Develop Volunteer Resources for Recruitment and Training of New Volunteers. With Food Insecurity Rates Being High in the Six Counties, Inca-rsvp Will Strive to Place an Unduplicated Number of 6 Volunteers That Will Assist in Food Pantry Services. the Primary Focus Area of This Project Is Disaster Preparedness by Educating and Making Information Along With Resources More Accessible for the Home-bound and Elderly Individuals in Our Communities. Inca-rsvp Plans to Do So by Having 15 Unduplicated Volunteers That Are Trained to Inform Others on the Necessities of Survival Techniques, Which Include What to Do in Case of a Disaster and How to Help Each Other. These Efforts Will Also Be Enhanced by Having the Volunteers Creating and Distributing Be Ready Bags, or Supplies Needed in Case of a Crisis Which Either Traps Them in Their Homes or Necessitates for Sheltering Outside the Home. of the Additional Volunteers, 40 Will Be Unduplicated and Serve Activities That Support Other Community Priorities. at the End of the Three-year Grant, 210 Children Will Have Received Tutoring and Mentoring Services, 100 Elderly or Disabled Will Have Received Companionship and Transportation to Medical Appointments, 700 People Will Feel More Food Secure, We Will Have Recruited and Trained 120 New Volunteers to the CNCS Family, 600 Senior Oklahoman's Will Be More Prepared to Face Disasters, 300 Youth Will Have Received Substance Abuse Education, 100 People Will Have Received Low-income Tax Assistance, and RSVP Volunteers Will Have Worked With the Oklahoma Blood Institute to Increase the Capacity of the Obi to Collect Blood; the CNCS Federal Investment of $ 80,000 Will Be Supplemented by $ 14,041.
