Legal Applicant: Colbert County Alabama Commission Proposed Volunteers: 160 the Federal Share of the Budget Is $90,004.00 for a One Year Period, the Non-federal Share Is $55,399 Which Exceeds the Required Matching Funds of 30%. the Colbert County RSVP Program Will Have an Estimated 160 Volunteers Who Will Serve. of This Number 90 Will Be Placed in Outcome Assignments. Some of Their Assignments Will Include Food Delivery, Community Gardens, Tutoring, Job Skill Training and Job Placement. the Primary Focus Area of This Project Is Healthy Futures. at the End of the Three-year Grant, Our Program Intends to Build Up Food Security, Educate About Environment and Nutrition, and Increase Individual Health and Well-being. Volunteers, Community, and Local Authorities Will Work Together to Plan, Plant, and Grow Community and Container Gardens as Well as Provide Seven Meals a Week to Elderly, Shut in, and Disabled Individuals in Our Area. These Programs Will Meet Both Immediate Needs for Nutrition and Food, But Will Also Provide Means, Knowledge, and Ability for Individuals to Continue to Meet Those Needs in the Future. RSVP Wants to Bring Together People From All Backgrounds and Financial Standing to Enable Them to Learn That They Can Work Together Toward a Common Goal. We Also Hope to Increase the Individual's Nutritional Knowledge, Create More Stability in Their Food Resources, Increase Environmental Stewardship, and Promote Better Personal Health and a Sense of Accomplishment and Pride in Their Own Work.
