An Estimated 223 RSVP Volunteers Will Serve the Communities Within Columbia County, Oregon. of This Number, 69 Volunteers Will Be Placed in Outcome Assignments. Some of Their Activities Will Include Providing Meals to Homebound or Disabled Individuals Allowing Them to Continue to Live Independently; Tutoring and Mentoring Economically Disadvantaged Students in Our Local Head Start Programs and Public Schools; Improving Food Insecurity With Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen Support; Improving School Attendance for Unaccompanied Homeless Teens, Serving Local Veterans, and Disaster Preparation Working With Our Local Community Emergency Response Team (cert), Emergency Management, and Citizen Corps. the Primary Focus Area of This Project Is Healthy Futures. at the End of the Three- Year Grant, 15 At-risk Homeless, Unaccompanied Teen Students Will Increase School Attendance, 20 Children Will Demonstrate Gains in School Readiness, 25 Students Will Improve Academic Performance in Literacy And/or Math Over the Course of the CNCS - Supported Program?s Involvement With the Student, and 30 Homebound or Older Adults Will Report Increased Social Ties, And/or Perceived Social Support as a Result of Receiving Meals on Wheels. the CNCS Federal Investment of $68,934 Will Be Supplemented by $35,087 of Non-federal Resources.
