Executive Summary Handson Central California (handson) Is an Independent 501C3 Whose Mission Is to Inspire, Equip and Mobilize Volunteers to Serve Their Communities in Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Madera, and Merced Counties. Handson, a Sponsor of RSVP for Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare Counties Since 2000, Requests Federal Funds From CNCS to Connect San Joaquin Valley Seniors With the People and Organizations That Need Them the Most. 400 RSVP Volunteers From 4 Central Valley Counties Will Serve. the Primary Outcome Focus Area Will Be Healthy Futures. During the Coming Grant Period, RSVP Will Recruit Unduplicated Volunteers to Meet Objectives in the Area Obesity and Food. County Health Rankings and Roadmaps Reports 270,000 Central Valley Residents (about 17%) Experience Food Insecurity. Support to Local Food Resource Agencies Is a Critical Need. RSVP Will Recruit and Place at Least 270 Volunteers in Outcome Assignments to Support the Work of Food Programs in Each County. at the End of the Three-year Grant, at Least 300 Individuals Will Report Increased Food Security of Themselves and Their Children (household Food Security) as a Result of Cncs-supported Services. RSVP Will Recruit and Develop a Core Group of Volunteers to Support the Veterans and Military Families Focus Area. RSVP Volunteers Will Support Vets and Veteran Serving Organizations With Planning and Implementing Stand Downs, Job Fairs and Therapeutic Recreational Programs in the Four Counties. Helping Children Read at Grade Level by the 3RD Grade Is a Community Priority. RSVP Volunteer Tutors Will Address Education Focus Area Objectives of School Readiness and K-12 Support. RSVP Volunteers Will Work With Early Childhood Education Programs, Libraries, Schools, Cbo's and Other Programs Serving Pre-k to Provide Literacy Tutoring Support for School Readiness and K-12. Handson Will Partner With Cbo's, Local School Districts and Other Community Partners to Provide Education Programs That Will Improve Childhood Literacy. RSVP Volunteers Will Address the Healthy Future Focus Area Objective: Access to Care by Partnering With Health Care Navigators and Providers to Support Individuals to Get Health Insurance. in Addition, We Will Partner With Medical Providers to Ensure Patients Get Superlative Care in Hospitals and Clinics. RSVP Volunteers Will Also Address Community Priorities; Supporting Police and Highway Patrol, Animal Shelters, and Providing Information to Travelers Visiting Centers at the Airport and City Info Desks. the CNCS Federal Investment of $178,933 Will Be Supplemented by $119,821.00 of Non-federal Resources.
