Delta Community Action Foundation, Inc. Is a Private, Non-profit Corporation Organized for the Purpose of Planning, Coordinating, and Executing Programs Authorized by Federal, State, and Local Entities to Alleviate and Attempt to Eradicate Poverty in Southern Oklahoma. the Mission of Delta Community Action Agency Is to Promote the Self-sufficiency Among Our Citizens to Secure the Opportunities to Work, to Live in Decency, and With Dignity. We Are Requesting Funding for the Delta Foster Grandparent Program in the Amount of $461,931 to Be Used for 77 Volunteer Service Years (VSYS) to Perform Volunteer Work in 11 Counties Located in Southern and Central Oklahoma: Caddo, Carter, Cleveland, Comanche, Garvin, Grady, Mcclain, Murray, Pottawatomie, Seminole, and Stephens. the 77 Vsys Will Serve Approximately 80,000 Hours Assisting at Risk Children in Public Schools, Head Start, and Early Head Start Classrooms. the Primary Focus Area of the Delta FGP Is Education. Our Volunteers Seek to Improve Educational Outcomes for Disadvantaged/at-risk Children. Delta FGP Volunteers Engage in a Variety of Service Activities to Ensure the Success of These Outcomes. Some of the Service Activities Will Focus on Helping Students Further Develop Reading, Math, Writing, Spelling, and Comprehension Skills to Improve Academic Engagement. Other Service Activities Will Have Volunteers Helping Children Complete Literacy Objectives That Are Aligned With Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework. the Anticipated Outcome at the End of the Three-year Grant Will Be That Assigned Students Demonstrate Improvements in Developmental Areas in Which They Need Assistance. the CNCS Federal Investment of $461,931 Will Be Supplemented by Sponsorships and In-kind Donations Totaling $53,431. Delta Community Action Foundation, Inc. Will Be Focusing on Locating Additional Funding Resources Throughout the Year.
