The Foster Grandparent Program of Northern Utah and Its Sponsoring Organization, Weber Human Services, Will Retain an Estimated 70 Foster Grandparent Volunteers to Fulfill the Requested 57 Federal and 7 Non-federal Vsy?s. the Primary Focus Area of This Project Is Education K-12 Success- Number of Students With Improved Academic Performance in Literacy And/or Math. the Activities Volunteers Will Provide Include, One-on-one Intensive Tutoring to Children With Special And/or Exceptional Needs Who Fall Below Benchmark on the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) Test in Elementary Schools and After-school Settings. They Will Also Provide Numeracy Skill Development to Students Struggling in Math. at the End of the Three-year Grant the Program Will Fulfill the Following Outcomes; 1,100 Children Will Have Received One-on-one Tutoring in Reading and Math Each Year. 75% of Children Tutored Will Show Improved Academic Performance in Literacy 35% of Students Tutored Will Reach Benchmark/ Grade Level in Literacy 30 Youth Will Receive Help With Their School Based Assignments in After-school and Will Receive Social and Emotional Skills Through Mentorship Each Year. the CNCS Federal Investment of $814,605, ($271,535 Per Year) Will Be Supplemented by $106,377LOCAL Match ($35,459 Per Year), $16,500 State Transportation Dollars, $10,000 in School District Funds and an Average of $30,600 in In-kind Donations to the Program.
