Community Relations-social Development Commission (SDC) Requests Support From the Corporation for National and Community Service to Operate the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) in Milwaukee County. by Year Three of the Granting Period 40-50 Unduplicated, Low-income Adults, Ages 55 and Above Will Serve as Volunteers at 24 Volunteer Stations. With Contributions From Committed Volunteers, the FGP Will Serve 285 Students in One-on-one Tutoring and Between 500-750 Low-income Children in Classrooms Annually. an Annual Budget of $258,703 (including State and National Funding) Will Support Program Staff, Volunteers, and Children Who Are Enrolled in Local Schools and Non-profit Preschools in Milwaukee, Wi. Because SDC Has Significant Experience as an Administrator and Provider of the Senior Companion Program (SCP), We Believe We Are Well-positioned to Operate This Program. Our Current SCP Program and Administrative Staff Are Familiar With the Program Requirements, Vsys, and Will Be Able to Quickly Develop an Effective Transition. This Ensures That Existing Volunteers and Participating Schools Continue to Devote Their Efforts Supporting Children Who Grow-up in Our Community. to Accomplish This, SDC Will Coordinate the Development of Our Work Plan and Program Procedures With Assistance From Interfaith Older Adult Programs, Inc., Who Currently Facilitates FGP in Milwaukee County. Preliminary Meetings With Staff at Interfaith and the Milwaukee Public Schools District Has Provided Us With Resources and Tools to Duplicate Successes in the Program.
