An Estimated 18 Volunteers Will Serve in the Senior Companion Program Managed by Catholic Charities West Michigan Which Services Muskegon and Newaygo Counties. the Senior Companion Program Volunteers Will Be Mobilized Throughout These Counties to Ensure the Highest Impact on Local Need. the Primary Focus Area for This Project Is to Increase the Ability of Frail Elderly or Disabled Clients to Safely Live Independently Longer. Over 50 Clients And/or Their Caregivers Will Be Able to Report They Were Able to Maintain Their Independence Longer and Perceived Stronger Community Connections and Support Due to Their Involvement in the Senior Companion Program. Senior Companion Volunteers Will Serve in and Partner With 5 Station Locations Which Include Senior Resources, Newaygo County Commission on Aging, Community Home Health Care, Day Break Adult Services and Newaygo County Mental Health Which Service Clients Throughout Muskegon and Newaygo Counties. Program Volunteers Will Provide Over 13,500 Hours of Service Annually to the Stations Creating the Greatest Impact and Meet the Highest Need. This Program Is Currently Solely Supported Through State and Local Grants. With $39,000 in State Funding and $70,200 in Local Grant Support CCWM Is Able to Currently Financially Support the Senior Companion Program.
