Supporting and Implementing Americorps Programs to Serve the People of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Is the Perfect Segue for the Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service (KCCVS) to Accomplish Its Mission Statement: "engaging Kentuckians in Volunteerism and Service to Positively Impact Our Communities". Prior to Posting the Request for Proposals (RFP), Kccvs Announced the Opportunity to Apply for an Americorps Grant to Serve Their Community on the Kccvs Website When the Draft Nofo Was Released on September 3, 2013 as Well as Sharing With the Kccvs Distribution List for Its Newsletter and Several Other Communication Avenues Including a Press Release From the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. the Information Was Also Sent to the Commission's Email Distribution List. a Timeline for the Request for Proposals Was Developed With an "email of Intent to Apply" Due to the Commission by November 1, 2013. Additional Technical Assistance Was Provided to the Potential Applicants as Resources Were Made Available by CNCS (faqs, Performance Measure, Revised Nofo, Technical Assistance Calls). Due to Issues With Egrants, the Prime Applications in Egrants Was Opened on November 14, 2013. Kccvs Recommended That Programs Create Word Documents of Their Narratives While Waiting Primes. Those Responding With an "intent to Apply" Email Were Offered an Opportunity to Participate in One-on-one Training With the Program Officer or to Have a Discussion by Conference Call on the Intricacies of Completing an Americorps Grant Application. Several of the Potential Applicants Availed Themselves to the Opportunity. Applications Were Due on November 27, 2013. Staff Reviewed the Applications November 29-DECEMBER 2, 2013 for Required Content. Applications Were Reviewed by a Panel of Commissioners and Community Volunteers on December 3, 2013. in Response to the RFP: - Three (3) New Reimbursable Applications Were Received as Well as Three (3) Reimbursable Continuations; and - Two (2) Fixed Price Continuations. the Program Committee Convened the Morning of December 4TH to Finalize Recommendations for the Full Commission Which Met Later That Day. the Committee Reviewed, Ranked and Prioritized All of the Submitted Americorps State Applications. the Program Committee Decided to Recommend Immediately Two of the Three Submitted Reimbursable New Applications; All of the Continuation Applications; and Conditionally One of the New Applications Based on a Full Rewrite and Second Review by the Program Committee to the Commission for Submission to CNCS for Possible Competitive Funding. the Commission Discussed, Concurred and Approved Program Committee's Recommendations. the Program Committee Reviewed the Conditionally Approved Application and Approved It for Submission on January 3, 2014.
