Community Students Learning Center's (CSLC) Mission Statement Is to Promote Community and Educational Change by Providing State of the Art Leadership Development and Personal Improvement Opportunities for Youth, Adults and Seniors. This 2017-2018 Application for Continuation of the CSLC Americorps Vista Project Is Still in Align With the Education, Healthy Futures, and Economic Opportunity Priority Focus Areas of the Corporation for National& Community Service (CNCS) as It Was for the 2016-2017 Service Year for Poverty Stricken, Low-income Families in Holmes County, Mississippi. the Vista Project Will Continue to Seek to Leverage Community Resources That Will Build Capacity Within Our Organization, Improve School Readiness for Kindergarteners, Foster K-12 Success, Provide Access to Healthy Future Program and Increase Economic Opportunities. Achieving This Goal Will Continue to Strengthen and Improve the Quality of Life for Low-income Families in the Impoverished Area of Holmes County, Mississippi. CSLC Is Requesting Seven (7) Vista Volunteers to Contribute to the Goals of This Project by Performing Activities Such as Recruiting and Managing Community Volunteers That Will Recruit, Enroll and Provide Home Visits to Low-income Families of 3-, 4-, and 5-YEAR-OLDS Into Our Early Literacy Program; Create a Volunteer Recruitment and Management System Consisting of Retired Educators, College Students and High School Seniors in the Community to Tutor At-risk Low-income Youth in Holmes County Low Performing Schools; Create a Volunteer Recruitment and Management System in Which Recruited Community Volunteers Will Assist and Connect Low-income Families to Resources in Improving Access to Nutritious Food for Low-income Families as Well as Helping Those Families to Gain Access to Receiving Needed Preventive and Primary Healthcare Services; and Create a Volunteer Recruitment and Management System in Which Recruited Community Volunteers Address the Need for Better Economic Opportunities Through Financial Literacy, Increased Employment and Affordable Housing. the Expected Outcome Is That These Individuals Will Be Elevated Out of Their State of Living at or Below the Poverty Level. This Will Be Achieved Over the Course of Three (3) Years;
