The Senior Companion Program of Northwest Michigan Has an Estimated 33 Volunteers That Will Serve the 10 Counties of Northwest Michigan and Be Placed in Outcome Assignments. Some of Their Activities Will Include; Providing Transportation and Assistance Accessing the Community to Attend Doctor Appointments, Grocery Shop, Pick Up Prescriptions, Visiting or Providing Respite for a Caregiver. They Have Been Sponsored by Catholic Human Services (CHS) for Over 32 Years and in That Time the Program Has Grown to Representation in All Ten Counties. the Mission Statement of CHS Is to Enhance the Lives of Those We Serve by Providing Hope-filled Social, Emotional and Spiritual Support to All People. CHS Provides Services to All Faiths, All Incomes and All Families. CHS Provides the Following Services to the 21 Counties of Northern Michigan; Alcohol & Drug Counseling, Family Counseling, Prevention Services, Pregnancy Counseling & Open Adoption, Employee Assistance Program, Senior Companion & Foster Grandparent Programs, Nursing Home Services and Community Services. the Foster Grandparent & Senior Companion Program's Mission Is to Enrich the Lives of the Older Adult Volunteers as Well as Those of the Clients and Children With Special Needs. the Program Is Designed to Tap the Talents, Skills, Knowledge and Traditions of the Volunteers, Enable Them to Provide Service to Others, and to Enhance Their Later Years by Bringing a Sense of Vitality and Renewal to Their Lives. We Strive to Provide a Valuable Service to the Community by Pairing Our SC Volunteers With Referred Clients in Their Communities, as Well as Serving Our Low Income Volunteer With the Resources and Training Needed to Ensure Their Quality of Life. SC Volunteers Will Provide Their Clients With an Opportunity to Engage in Their Communities, Which Increases Socialization and Decreases Isolation. We Are Funded for 33 Vsys Through Aasa and Maintain Their Placement and Service Hours. the Primary Focus Area of the Project Is Healthy Futures. at the End of the 3 Year Grant, the Anticipated Outcomes (193 Receiving Independent Living Services [each Year] and 165 Realizing Increased Social Support [each Ear] )will Be Met Thru; Clients Receiving SC Services Will Report Increased Social Support and Caregivers Will Report Increased Social Ties and Support Due to the SC Services Provided to Their Loved One. the CNCS Federal Investment of $0 Will Be Supplemented by $321,487 Non Federal Resources From Aasa and Local Partners.
