The Disparate Jurisdictions of San Bernardino County and the City of San Bernardino Will Use Jag Funds for a Range of Equipment and Supplies. Specifically, San Bernardino County Will Use Jag Funds to Purchase a Mail Screening Detection System (MSDS) and Related Services for the Screening of Mail Sent to Clients That Reside in the Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center and the Secure Youth Treatment Facility Located in San Bernardino and Apple Valley, California, Respectively. the Purpose of an MSDS Is to Screen Postal Mail for Contraband and Illicit Drugs Hidden in Correspondence Prior to Perusal Review at the Detention Facilities. the County Desires to Obtain an MSDS to Increase the Efficiency in Screening Postal Mail to Prevent Exposure of Contraband and Drugs and to Improve the Security and Safety of Staff and Detainees Within the Facilities. the City of San Bernardino Will Use Jag Funds to Support the Creation of a Real Time Crime Center for the San Bernardino Police Department (SBPD). the Real Time Crime Center Will Improve the Sbpds Law Enforcement and Public Safety Capabilities by Better Incorporating Technology Into the Daily Response to Calls for Service and Investigations Within the City. the Project Will Involve Upgrading Existing Computer Infrastructure to Facilitate a Better Workflow for Crime Analysts, Forensic Technicians, and Personnel Assigned to the Emergency Operations Center. New Investigative Equipment Is Also Being Sought to Aid Forensic Technicians While Working Through Crime Scenes. Equipping Police Motorcycles With Shorter-length Rifles Will Increase Motor Officers' Ability to Respond Rapidly to Critical Incidents, Allowing for Quicker, More Effective Responses in a Variety of Scenarios. the Purchase of Portable Compressors and Tool Kits for the SBPD Fleet Maintenance Crew Will Allow Them to Address Minor Vehicle Issues On-site, Minimizing Vehicle Downtime and Reducing the Need for External Repairs, Ensuring That Police Cars Are Operational and Available to Respond More Consistently. Lastly, New Radios Will Ensure Reliable, Uninterrupted Communication, Which Is Critical for Coordinating Responses, Especially During Emergencies.
