Due to THECOVID-19 Pandemic Andthefailing Economy,the Nicholas County Commission Has Been Unable to Provide Thesheriffsdepartmentwith All the Necessary Equipment That Is Needed to Ensureour Technology Isup to Date. Consequently, the Sheriffs Department Hasbeen Unable to Replaceobsoletebody-worncamera Systemswhich Hinders Our Ability to Policeat Our Full Capability. Given the Number of Sworn Officers in the Nicholas Countysheriffsdepartment, the Nicholas County Commission Has Made Every Effort Toprovidethe Equipment That Is Necessary to Perform the Duty of a Deputysheriff,but Some Equipment Has Been Overlooked, Due to Cost. as Mentioned Above, This Equipment Includesbody-worncamera Systems. Uniquely,our Current System Has Been Replaced With New Technology, Making Our System Obsolete. as a Result, Thesheriffsdepartment Hasno Body-worn Cameras for Officers.even More,withthe Current Systemsbeingobsolete,itcreates Substantial Risk to Both Officers and Citizens of Nicholas County. WITH(20)TWENTYNEWBODY-WORNCAMERA Systems,the Officers Willhave Dependable Audio and Video Evidencewhich Will Aid in the Prosecution of Cases. Without Video and Audio Evidence,problems Occurwhennot Onlyprosecuting a Casebut Alsowhenproving Someones Innocence. Likewise,in the Event of Officer Misconduct, These Cameras Willsafeguardthe Truth Which Protectsboththe Officers and Citizen.
