The County of Orange (COUNTY) Seeks to Further Enhance Its Community Corrections System of Care by Establishing a Coordinated Reentry Center Accessible to Any County Resident Involved in the Criminal Justice System. the County Is in the Implementation Phase of a 2025 Vision to Reform the Criminal Justice System Through Prevention and Intervention. Through This Process, the Need for a Centralized Reentry Center Was Identified to Seamlessly Continue the Treatment and Services Individuals Were Receiving While In-custody to Maintain Engagement, Serve as a Resource for Individuals Looking to Seek Help in Breaking Their Repeated Criminal Justice Involvement, and Provide Supportive Housing for Those Waiting for Placement Into Residential Treatments, Transitional Housing or Permanent Supportive Housing Options. an Existing County Facility Has Been Identified to Be Repurposed to Serve as the Coordinated Reentry Center and Provide Space for Residential Programs; On-site Programs, Classes and Trainings; Referrals and Linkages to Community-based Organizations Serving the Same Populations; and Resources, Such as Workforce Assistance to Help Individuals Obtain Self-sufficiency. the Existing Facility Is Ideally Located Near Freeways, Public Transit, and Near a Corporate Area on Approximately 9.6 Acres of Land and Has the Capacity to House Around 125 Individuals Under Its Current Use. the Existing Buildings on the Property Provide for Administration, Classrooms, and Housing; Provide Ample Space to Allow for Community-based Programs That Best Meet the Individual Needs of Those Seeking Services and On-site Referrals and Linkages. to Establish the Existing Facility to Serve as the Coordinated Reentry Center, Significant Modifications and Renovations Are Required From Simple Paint and Carpet to Reconfiguring Housing Units to Support the Residential Services and Programs; Remodeling the Administration Area to Allow for Welcoming, Assessments, and Warm Hand Offs and Linkages; and the Renovating of Classrooms to Provide Flexible Space for the Various Trainings, Classes, and Support Services Planned. in Addition, the Grounds Require Minor Modifications to Support the Co-location of Community-based Organizations Supporting the Same Population. Funding Provided Will Be Used to Move These Efforts Forward to Accelerate the Establishment of the County’s Coordinated Reentry Center.
