The Uvalde Community Remains Devastated by the Tragedy and Has Lost Its Sense of Innocence. Most Have Lost Confidence That the Schools Are a Safe Place for Their Students. the School Shooting Had a Traumatic Impact on the School District, the Community, the Students, and the Staff. a Sense of Normalcy, Tradition, and History Has Been Lost, Affecting the Ucisd Children, Staff, and Parents. the Tragedy That Took Nineteen Students' Lives and Two Teachers' Lives on May 24, 2022, Damaged the Communitys Childrens Health and Well-being. This Event Exposed Students to Violence in the Most Horrific Manner That Anyone Can Imagine. It Will Take a Significant Amount of Time to Identify the Impact It Has on These Individuals. Psychologically, the Students Will Be Affected at Various Levels and the Time to Heal Will Vary From Student to Student. This Is Impactful to the Overall Academic Progress of the Students, the Absenteeism That Might Follow, and Graduation and Drop-out Rates That May Be Associated With the Trauma Witnessed at the School. Thisaward to Uvalde Cisd Will Be Very Impactful to the Well-being of Our Students and Staff. the Purposeful Expenditures Will Supply the Community With Safety for All of Our Students. the Availability to Hire Additional Officers and Purchase Equipment and Suppliesto Sustain the Safety for Our Students, the Consistency of Instruction and Space Within the Campuses. the Hiring of Additional Officers and Campus Monitors Will Provideour School Community With a Constant Police Presence at the District. the Need for Law Enforcement to Provide Their Services at Campuses, District Offices, on Field Trips, and at Parental Involvement Activities and Extra-curricular Activities, Will Continue to Increase the Morale and Will Sustainthe Majority of Our Enrollment of Students at Ucisd. the Turnover Rate for Teachers Was Also Not High Due to the This Years Increase of Police Protection. There Is Still a Continuous Need for Additional District Police Officers So That We Can Increase the Law Enforcement Presence on the Remaining Campuses. This Presence Will Assist to Calm Students, Staff, and the Community With the Fears That Exist at Our Nine Campuses in the District.
