Quinter Public Schools (QPS), Usd #293, Quinter, Kansas, Requests Funding to Launch a School Safety Initiative. Funding Will Be Used for Security Cameras, Lighting, Mass Notification and Reunification Software, and Door Monitoring Andentry Systems.in Preparation for This Grant, Oursheriffs Office Did Visit Our Buildings and Met With Staff to Disaggregate Student Data to Make Suggestions About Safety Hardware Needed to Assist in Securing Our School Buildings. USD-293 Has Identified the Following Gaps in Service and the Identified Solution to Address the Needs: 1) Gap Current Doors Are Extremely Antiquated and Often Do Not Close Completely. Solution: USD-293 Will Install New Door Notification System, That Alert Administration If They Are Left Open. Two Doors at the Elementary School Will Be Updated With Badging Systems to Increase Security and Visibility as to Who Is Coming in and Out of the BUILDING.2) Gap Current Lighting Is Not Sufficient During Evening Events and Out-of-school Times; Solution: USD-293 Will Install New Led Lighting in Trouble Areas Around School Buildings Where Parents And\or Community Have Stated There Is an Issue, 3) Gap USD-293 Currently Does Not Have the Means to Mass Notify Parents in the Event of an Emergency, Weather Situation, or School Violence or for Reunification; Solution: USD-293 Will Installpartnering Hardware and Software to Mass Notify Parents and the Community as Well as Provide Specific Location for Where an Emergency Call Was Made on Campus. 4) Gap USD-293 Currently Has Blind Spots in Their Buildings Where No Security Video Is Possible, and Cameras and Servers at Quinter Elementary School Are No Longer Working; Solution: USD-293 Will Install a Cloud-based Security Camera Option That Can Be Shared With First Responders and View via the Web via an App. to Address the Gaps/needs in Services From the Previous Section, the Following Goals and Objectives Will Measure the Success of the Project: 1) Goal to Install New Door Entry and Monitoring Systems Which Will Make the Building Safer for Students and the Community. Objective: by August of Each Grant Year, Parents Satisfaction With the School Buildings Will Improve by 5% Based on a District Survey; 2) Goal to Improve Lightening Around School Buildings to Deter Potential Issues; Objective: by August of Each Grant Year, USD-293 Will Measure the Brightness of the Old Lightning VS. the New Led Lightening (20% Improvement Is Goal) Using a Light Meter: 3) Goal a Mass Notification System Will Be Implemented to Assist With Emergencies, Weather Situations, or School Violence; Objective: by August of Each Year, Reporting Will Be Available From the Emergency Alert System Indicatingthe Number of Calls Sent. 4) Goal Install a New Video Security System to Remove Blind Spots and Update to Current Technology; Objective: by August of Each Grant Year, Community Partners Will Inspect the System to Ensure It Is Functioning Properly.
