Central School District #104 Facilities Require Significant Upgrades to Existing Equipment and New Equipment to Improve Safety and Security for Students and Staff. the Camera System and Software, Entry Access Controls, Intercom System and Radios, Classroom Doors, Window Film, and Exterior Lighting Call for Improvements to Ensure Protection for the School Community. the CSD #104 Safety and Security Improvement Plan Enables the District to Meet Todays Standards and This Federal Grant Would Provide the Funds to Do So. Due to Age and Broken Equipment, the Camera Systems at Both Buildings Fail to Perform at a Level Essential for Student Safety. the Current Camera Systems Can Only Be Viewed From One Computer in the Building, and the Image Quality Is Extremely Low. in Todays World, It Is Crucial That the Camera Image Quality Be Reliable and the Footage Accessible From Multiple Locations, Including by the Police. Therefore, Making Our Current System a Nonviable Resource in an Emergency. the Present Intercom Systems and Radios Need to Be Upgraded and Expanded, as It Does Not Extend Out to Our Fourth-grade Classrooms or to the Bus Company, Both of Which Require That Type of Communication, Particularly in Emergency Situations. Additionally, the Entry Access Controls Need to Be Extended to Our Fourth-grade Buildingcurrently, We Do Not Have Card Readers for That Building. Lastly, Adding Magnetic Hold Openers to Classroom Doors Would Greatly Increase Security and Safety for Our Buildings, in Case of an Emergency, Intruder or Fire. the Magnetic Holds Would Be Wired to a Button in Each Office for Use During an Intruder or Building Threat, and to the Fire Alarm Panel in Case of a Fire. in the Instance of a Fire, the Magnets Would Lose Power and the Doors Would Automatically Close, According to the Fire Safety Code. During a Threat or Intruder, the Emergency Button in the Office Could Be Pressed to Automatically Shut All the Classroom Doors Without Sounding a Fire Alarm. the Magnetic Hold Opens Would Allow Teachers the Opportunity to Have Their Classroom Doors Open, Without Door Stops Which Are Against Fire Code, and Without Risking the Safety and Security of Their Students. All of the Updates and Enhancements Laid Out in the CSD #104 Safety and Security Improvement Plan Will Provide the District as a Whole With Greater Reassurance and Protection.
