Howe Public Schools (HPS), Howe, Oklahoma, Requests Funding to Launch a School Safety Initiative. Funding Will Be Used for Door Entry Systems, Ballistic Film on Entry Windows, Security Surveillance Systems With SMS Notification, and Emergency Signage to Meet Student Ada Compliance With Student Needs. in Preparation for This Grant, Our Sro (sheriffs Office Representative) Did Visit Our Buildings. He Met With Staff to Disaggregate Student Data to Make Suggestions About Safety Hardware Needed to Assist in Securing Our School Buildings. HPS Has Identified the Following Service Gaps and the Solution to Address the Needs: 1) Gap Current Doors Do Not Provide the Needed Security Due to Age and an Inability to Install Door Locking Mechanisms. Solution: HPS Will Install New Door Entry Systems, and Parents or Visitors Will Only Be Allowed to Enter Through That Door; 2) Gap Current Windows Would Allow an Intruder to Shoot Out the Glass to Enter Facilities; Solution: HPS Will Install Ballistic Film on All Entry Door Windows to Alleviate the Security Issue, 3) Gap There No Digital Signage to Announce in High Traffic Areas of the Building and to Meet Ada Compliance. Solution: HPS Will Install 75 Digital Signage Panels Throughout the Building to Alert Students and Staff of Potential Weather or School Violence Issues. 4) Gap HPS Currently Has Blind Spots in Their Buildings Where No Security Video Is Possible, and Existing Cameras Are Outdated; Solution: HPS Will Install a Cloud-based Security Camera Option That Can Be Shared With First Responders and Viewed via an App via the Web. to Address the Gaps/needs in Services From the Previous Section, the Following Goals and Objectives Will Measure the Success of the Project: 1) Goal to Install New Door Entry Systems Which Will Make the Building Safer for Students and the Community. Objective: by August of Each Grant Year, Parents Satisfaction With the School Buildings Will Improve by 5% Based on a District Survey; 2) Goal to Provide Ballistic Film on All Entry Door Windows; Objective: by August Second Grant Year, HPS Will Have 100% of the Entry Door Windows Covered With Ballistic Film: 3) Goal: Install Digital Signage Throughout Buildings. Objective: by August of Each Grant Year, Digital Signage Will Be Added to 100% of High-traffic Areas to Assist With Notification; 4) Goal Install a New Video Security System to Assist With Coverage and Update to Current Technology; Objective: by August of Each Grant Year, Community Partners Will Inspect the System to Ensure It Is Functioning Properly.
