Iditarod Area School District, Located in the Alaskan Interior, Serves 7 Native Villages With 8 Schools and Has Partnered With Grayling Ira, Holy Cross Tribe and the Alaska State Troopers to Apply for a Cops SVP Project Called Doors for Grayling and Holy Cross. the District Office in Mcgrath, Ak Is Roughly the Center of the 75,000 Square Miles Administered by the Iasd and Lies 221 Roadless Miles Northwest of Anchorage and 269 Miles SW of Fairbanks. Graying and Holy Cross Village Schools Have Suffered Death Threats Toward School Staff, Extensive Vandalism, and Break-ins With Debilitating Thefts. in One Winter Event, Persons From a Nearby Village Brought Snowmachines and Sleds to the Village, Easily Entered Through Existing Doors and Emptied the School of Thousands of Dollars in Tools, Machinery and Technology, Spending Over 6 Hours Making Trips and Bragging About "christmas Shopping." Project Goals Are: to Improve Safety and Security of Students and School Personnel and to Decrease Fiscal Losses Resulting From Theft and Vandalism. Requested Project Funds Will Purchase Integrated Coded Exterior Doors for Grayling and Holy Cross Schools, Improving Perimeter Security and Coded Internal Doors Improving Safety and Ease of Access for Authorized Persons. This Project Was Begin Last Year But Match and Funds Were Inadequate to Complete All Necessary Measures.professional Installation, Support, Use and Safety Training Increases Effectiveness of Technology. We Anticipate Security Doors to Withstand Criminal Tresspass, Decreasing Vandalism and Theft. All 350 District Students Will Continue in Pbis Education for Social/emotional Learning and Gun Safety Curriculum, Improving Interpersonal Relations and Increasing Student Awareness and Avoidance of Risk. All 7 District Tribes, Population 1200, Are Being Integrated Into the School Response Systems, Anticipated to Reduce Intervillage Crime Sprees Such as Occurred in December 2022. the Combination of Safe, Modern Doors and Entry Systems and Enhanced Partnerships Improves School Safety From External Threats. Training and Curriculum Improve Student Awareness and Ability to Avoid and Resist Risk. the Combined Power of the Community and School Will Improve School Environments.
