Description:this Project Provides Funding Under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) (PL 117-58) for Baker Technical Institute Brownfield Job Training Program to Recruit, Train, and Place Unemployed and Underemployed Residents of the Seven Contiguous Counties in Oregon (polk, Marion, Linn, Benton, Crook, Jefferson, Deschutes) in Environmental Careers That Will Bridge the Skills Gap by Helping Technical Trade Job Seekers Explore Multiple Environmental Trade Career Paths, Gain Skills That Are Foundational for Success in a Variety of Workplaces. Establish Career and Learning Pathways in to Assist in the Cleanup and Remediation of Contamination on Brownfields Sites. Increase Transferable Skill-based Learning for Entry-level Workers to Earn Living Wages Through Certifications in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response, Construction Safety, First Aid, Confined Space Entry, Heavy Equipment Operator, Forklift Operator, Lead Repair Renovation Painting (RRP), With an Additional Commercial Driver License (CDL) for Those Interested in Transportation of Hazardous Waste. Activities:this Project Will Train Graduates to Earn Skills and Certifications Necessary to Enter Into Environmental Careers. Activities to Be Performed During/under This Project Are Certifications in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER40HR), Construction SAFETY(OSHA10), First Aid, Confined Space Entry, Heavy Equipment Operator, Forklift Operator, Lead Repair Renovation Painting (RRP), With an Additional Commercial Driver License (CDL) for Those Interested in Transportation of Hazardous Waste. Subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:this Project Will Provide Training to Residents of the Seven Contiguous Counties in Oregon (polk, Marion, Linn, Benton, Crook, Jefferson, Deschutes). the Central Oregon Training Center Is Within a One-hour Commute for Students in Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson Counties, While the Mid-willamette Valley Training Center Serves Students Primarily From Linn, Benton, Polk, and Marion Counties Within a One-hour Commute. the Anticipated Deliverables Are: Two Training Academies Comprised of 30 Students Each (for a Total of 60 Students), Recruited, Trained, Certified, and Placed in Environmental Careers in Communities Impacted by Solid and Hazardous Waste Sites and Facilities. 60 - Osha 29 CFR 1910.120 40HR Hazwoper 60 - Forklift Operator 40 - Osha 10 40 - First Aid/cpr/aed for Construction 40 - Heavy Equipment Operator 40 - Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting [RRP] 6 - Commercial Driver Licenses [CDL] Expected Outcomes and Beneficiaries From This Project Include: Adequate Training of Personnel for Environmental Assessment, Cleanup, and Remediation Effort That Is Paramount to Rural Oregon's Ability to Efficiently Address Brownfields and Revitalize Their Communities. Increased Ability to Support Local Rural Workforces and Revitalize Brownfields Will Result in Better Environmental Cleanup Outcomes and Prevention of Additional Brownfields. Trainees Will Understand How to Identify Contamination, Move and Stabilize Soil, and Protect Groundwater During Construction and Heavy Equipment Operation With Environmentally-friendly Methods.
