Description:this Project Will Support the Kodiak Area Native Association Assisting the Native Village of Karluk in Building Capacities and Developing Programs to Protect the Tribal Environment and Health. Objectives/workplan Components Include: 1. Building Administrative Capacity; 2. Building Programmatic Capacity; 3. Building Communications Capacity; and 4. Building Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Capacity. Activities:workplan Activities/tasks Include: Setting Up an Environmental Office and Administrative and Program Management Systems; Attending Training and Researching Issues and Resources; Communicating Internally and Externally About Issues and Conducting Community Education Activities; Building Technical Knowledge of Solid and Hazardous Waste Management; Conducting Source Separation and Resource Recovery Activities; and Developing an Integrated Waste Management Plan. Subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:the Intended Beneficiaries of This Project Are the Native Village of Karluk, Tribal Members, and the Local Public. the Expected Outcomes of This Project Include: Increasing Tribal Administrative Capacity to Respond to Local Environmental Concerns; Increasing Tribal Programmatic Capacity to Assess Local Environmental Issues; Increasing Community Knowledge of Environmental Issues and Actions Protective of the Environment; Increasing Tribal Technical Capacities to Manage Solid and Hazardous Waste; and Decreasing Amounts of Recyclables and Hazardous Wastes Entering Landfill. Anticipated Deliverables Include: Performance Reports; Financial Reports; Trip Reports; Copies of Outreach Materials; an Event Summary Report; and an Integrated Waste Management Plan.
