Description:this Project Will Provide Technical Assistance (e.g., Information, Training, Tools) to Businesses to Help Them Develop and Adopt Source Reduction Practices (also Known as Pollution Prevention (P2)). P2 Means Reducing or Eliminating Pollutants From Entering Any Waste Stream or Otherwise Being Released Into the Environment Prior to Recycling, Treatment, or Disposal. P2 Practices Can Help Businesses Save Money by Reducing Their Resource Use, Expenditures, Waste and Liability Costs, While at the Same Time Reducing Their Environmental Footprint and Helping to Protect Human Health and the Environment. Specifically, the Washington State Department of Ecology (ECY) Will Provide Technical Assistance to Businesses in Washington in Support of the P2 Program's National Emphasis Areas. Ecy Will Provide Technical Assistance and P2 Amplification Through Seven Projects: 1) Chemical Hazards Assessments and Technical Assistance for Third Party Verifications, 2) P2 Technical Assistance to Food and Beverage Manufacturers, 3) Translation to Provide P2 Assistance in Multiple Languages, 4) Energy Efficiency Technical Support for Metal Manufacturing and Fabrication, 5) Toxics Use Reduction Ta for Metal Finishers, 6) Washington Applied Sustainability Internship Program, and 7) Partnership With PPRC to Provide P2 Rapid Response to Washington Businesses. to Support Detailed Measurement and Tracking, Ecy Will Build Upon the Current Wa State P2 Reporting Database. Activities:the Priorities for P2 Technical Assistance (information, Training, and Tools) Align With One or More of the Program's National Emphasis Areas (neas). Specifically, the Project(s) Will Address Neas 1-5: the Washington State Department of Ecology (ECY) Will Provide Technical Assistance to Businesses in Washington in Support of the P2 Program's National Emphasis Areas.
