Description:the Agreement Provides Funding to Texas Tech University. the Purpose of This Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) 306 Funded Grant Is to Provide Radon Risk Reduction That Will Result in Increased Radon Testing, Mitigation, and Radon Resistant New Construction. Specifically, the Recipient Will Provide Targeted Education and Outreach to These Areas. the Recipient Will Also Provide General Educational Presentations and Testing Opportunities for All Other Residents of Texas.activities:the Activities Include Implementing a State or Tribal Radon Program Designed to Support of Radon Related Projects in Homes, Schools, and or Other Buildings, Including: 1) Designing Public Information Outreach, Education: (a) Programs to Control Radon in Existing and New Structures and (B) Demonstration of Radon Mitigation Methods and Technologies 2) Providing Training and Technical Support. 3) Expanding Radon Testing, Mitigation, and Data Collection in New and Existing Structures; and 4) Identifying and Spreading Best Practices for Building Homes and Buildings Radon Resistant and Adopting Radon in Building Codes. Perform Radon Surveys (task 1 of Texas State and Tribal Indoor Grants (SIRG) 2021-2023). Texas Tech University (TTU) Aims to Accomplish Radon Testing at a Rate of 10-25 Home Tests/month Over the Two-year Grant Period, Public Information and Educational Materials, Website and Phone Hotline, Assistance to Local Governments/other State Agencies, Data Collection and Statutory Reporting. Subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:the Anticipated Deliverables Include : Task 1 Radon Surveys Task 2 Public Information and Educational Material Task 3: Geographical Information System (GIS) Assessment Task 4 Website and Toll-free Hotline Task 5: Assistance to Local Governments/ Other State Agencies Task 6: Statutory Reporting Task 7: Program Overhead and Administration the Expected Outcomes Include: Task 1 We Aim to Accomplish Radon Test Distribution at a Rate of 30-40 Home Tests/month Over the Two-year Grant Period, Specifically in the Texas High Plains. Task 2 Will Serve to Disseminate Educational Information on Radon, as Well as an Opportunity to Encourage Homeowners to Request Radon Surveys (task 1). Task 3 Address Impacts of Efforts to Reach Residents in Older Homes and in Underserved Communities, Which Are Not Immediately Apparent in Radon Test Kits Distributed and Deployed. Task 4 Provides a Texas Radon Website and a Phone Number. Website Monitoring, Response, and Maintenance Will Continue for the 2023-2025 State and Tribal Indoor Radon Grants (sirg). Task 5 Continue to Respond to Inquiries and Requests for Assistance From Local Governments and State Agencies. Task 6 Continue to Measure Program Effectiveness Using Epa's Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Impact Radon Measures. Task 7 This Project Requires a Multifaceted Team Led by DRS. Millerick and Chao. DR. Millerick Will Oversee the Grant. DR. Chao's Efforts Will Focus on Training and Supervising the Graduate Student Responsible for Data Collection and Gis Mapping. the Intended Beneficiaries Include. Homeowners in Areas of Elevated Radon Risk. This Includes: - Owners of Homes in the High Plains and Central Texas Uplift Regions of Texas - Owners of Homes With Basements - Owners of Homes Otherwise Identified as Having Elevated Radon Risk
