The Purpose of This National Diesel Emissions Reduction Act Funded Cooperative Agreement Is to Provide Funds to the South Carolina Ports Authority in Its Efforts to Reduce Diesel Emissions and Exposure in South Carolina, the Inland Port of Greer, and the Port of Savannah, Georgia. South Carolina Ports Authority Will Achieve These Deliverables by Replacing Eight Diesel Fueled Freight Haulers With New, Zero Emission, Battery Electric Powered Tractors. It Is Anticipated That These New Trucks Will Run More Than 700,000 Emission Free Miles Over the Next Four Years. the Project Will Impact Three Port Locations in Two States and Display the Leadership of Implementing Zero Emission Vehicles in Support of Two Separate Industries in Environmental Protection Agency Region 4, Including Hauling Automotive Parts for a Major Manufacturer and Chemical/plastics Transportation. the Specific Outcomes of This Project Are Expected to Increase Interest From Drayage and Short Haul Fleets in Port Areas, Community Driven Demand for Zero Emission Vehicles and Fleets in Goods Movement Areas, and Annual Emissions Reduction as Follows: 2.141 Tons Nitrogen Oxides, .274 Tons Particular Matter With Diameters Less 2.5 Micrometers Emissions, .325 Tons Hydrocarbon, 1.087 Tons Carbon Monoxide, 753.8 Tons Carbon Monoxide, and 67,000 Gallons of Diesel Fuel. Direct Beneficiaries of This Program Include Residents of States of South Carolina and Georgia, That Will Benefit From the Grant.
