Description:the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Will Work With the Michigan Public Health Institute to Hire a Community Outreach Educator.activities:the Community Outreach Educator Will Provide Information and Education on Safe Fish Consumption at Fishing-related Events Near Waterbodies in Environmental Justice (EJ) Communities in Michigan.subrecipient:no Subawards Are Included in This Assistance Agreement.outcomes:the Goal Is to Provide Accurate Information About the Risks of Consuming Fish That May Be Contaminated With Harmful Chemicals Like Mercury, PCBS, and Pfas and Share Best Practices for Reducing Risk From Consumption (limiting Amounts Eaten Per Week, Choosing Safer Fish and Waterbodies, and Best Practices for Cleaning and Cooking to Limit Consuming Parts of the Fish With the Highest Levels of Contaminants). This Project Will Benefit Residents of Ej Communities and Others Who Eat Fish From These Waterbodies and Other Waterbodies in Michigan.
