The Systems Approach to Geomorphic Engingeering (SAGE) Program is to promote the use of both green (or natural solutions) and grey (or hard structures) and the mix of nature-based features in solving coastal landscape transformation challenges. More Importantly, to look at solving problems on a regional scale, rather than a parcel scale, so that each individual shoreline solution is compatible with adjacent shoreline solutions, and thus protecting the entire shoreline, and not just one property.

The Pacific Island Ocean Observing Systems (PacIOOS) collects, manages, and provides real-time model, and archival information of ocean conditions. Its forecasting data is intended to keep Pacific Islands communities safe, support livelihoods and lifestyles, and sustain coastal and ocean resources. PacIOOS's data is utilized by fishermen, commercial operations, surfers, meteorologists, resource managers, scientists, and many others, not only to make well-informed decisions, but to enhance their understanding of the Pacific Ocean.
