Child welfare issues in general Implementation of the Family First Prevention Services Act -- included in PL 115-123; in general and specifically referring to the interaction between certain foster care placements and Medicaid law. Reauthorization of Title IV-B of the Social Security Act -- met with Congressional staff and relayed recommendations compiled by LACo Dept of Children and Family Services to Congressional offices Monitored the reauthorization of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA)-- Monitored the Senate Finance Committee Request for Information on Mental and Behavioral Health Monitored CMS guidance on Medicaid 1115 Waiver specifically serious mental illness/serious emotional disturbance (SMI/SED) and the implications for foster care groups home and interaction with the Institutions for Mental Disease exemption - advocated for legislation to address the issue. Researched and engaged Congressional staff on issues associated with the issuance of Social Security cards to children and youth in foster care. Advocated for an administrative resolution of the issue.
