Working with Senate and House offices to support (a) language in the Amtrak section of the surface transportation (or infrastructure) authorization bill that would restore the favorable Amtrak policies towards private cars and charter trains that existed at the start of 2018; and (b) report language on the FY 2022 Transportation/Housing Appropriations Bill that would encourage Amtrak to move towards pre-2018 private car & charter train policies. This includes relaxing policies that limit private charter trains to repetitive trips confined to the regular Amtrak route structure. Generally support Amtrak funding and especially its national route structure.
