Promote recurring cash payments as a response to the pandemic including: Sec 2201 HR 748 CARES Act -- one-time payment to most people; Emergency Money to the People Act HR 6496 and Automatic Boost to Communities Act HR 6553 -- monthly payments to people until economy recovers; S 3516 Emergency Family Relief Act -- monthly payment to families until health emergency ends. Also promote fixes to CARES Act to insure 10-20 million Americans get their payments, support HEROES Act (HR 6800) coverage of immigrant workers and their families and older dependents. Promote cash policies to end poverty and rebuild the middle class. Build support for policies that promote a Cost-of-Living Refund -- a bold expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit that would benefit nearly half of all Americans and lift nearly 15 million people out of poverty. Specific legislation includes: The Cost-of-Living Refund Act (S.527, HR 1431) to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) -- increasing benefits across a wider income range, expanded definition of work to include caregivers and low income students; The LIFT Act (S.4) to create a monthly refundable tax credit to working Americans including low income students; The EITC Modernization Act (HR 1436) to update EITC definitions to include caregivers and low income students and provide for monthly payments; The BOOST Act -- HR 3590 to to establish a refundable tax credit to increase the take-home pay of American workers and enhance their financial stability, The Worker Relief and Credit Reform Act (HR 5271)to expand and modernize the Earned Income Tax Credit Build support for other cash policies including: Working Families Tax Relief Act (HR 3157 and S 1138) to expand tax credits for working families including the EITC and Child Tax Credit (CTC); American Family Act (S. 690) to expand the CTC; and Tax Filing Simplification Act (S 1194, HR 2297) to ease the tax filing process for millions of American taxpayers and reduce their costs.
