Support an exception to the filibuster rules to pass fundamental voting rights and democracy reforms. Support strengthening of government ethics legislation. Support the Presidential Reform Act (H.R. 8873) and the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act of 2022 (S. 4573), to reform the Electoral Count Act of 1877 and close the loophole in the Presidential Election Day Act of 1845 that would allow a state legislature, after a presidential election, to name its own presidential electors for the state, after determining that the states voters failed to make a choice for President. Support the DISCLOSE Act (S. 443), to combat the flood of special interest spending in politics and require additional disclosure requirements for corporations, labor organizations, Super PACs, and other entities. Support the Sustaining Our Democracy Act (S. 4239 / H.R. 7992) to provide federal funding to help states and local governments support election administration; secure and upgrade election infrastructure; expand polling places and the availability of early and mail voting; recruit and train nonpartisan poll workers and election officials; protect election officials from threats and harassment; and increase access to voting in federal elections for underserved communities, voters with disabilities, racial and language minority groups, military and overseas voters, and voters in Indian lands. Support the Protecting Our Democracy Act (H.R. 5314) to restore the governments system of checks and balances, strengthen accountability and transparency, and protect Americas elections from foreign interference. Support the activities of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol. Support legislation that would prohibit Members of Congress from owning or trading individual stocks; a prohibition that would extend to Members spouses or dependent children; and an enforcement mechanism that is clear and significant enough to serve as a functional deterrent. Support Senate action to report and pass an ethics code for the Supreme Court. Support the DC Admission Act, to make Washington, DC a state (H.R. 51). Support efforts to encourage executive departments and federal agencies to take additional steps to implement President Bidens Executive Order Promoting Access to Voting. Support executive action to require the disclosure of political expenditures made by government contractors. Support three provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2023 (H.R. 7900): The DC National Guard Home Rule Act (Sec. 6252 of H.R. 7900) which would transfer control over the DC Guard from the President to the Mayor of Washington DC, except when called into federal service; the Sherrill Amendment (Sec. 516 of H.R. 7900), to require all interstate deployments of the National Guard under 32 U.S.C. 502(f) to be approved by the chief executives of both the sending and receiving state; and the Schiff Amendment (Sec. 549B of H.R.7900) which would codify an exclusionary rule barring the use of evidence obtained in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act.
