Discussed the reintroduction and amendment of Reps. Engel & Myrick's legislation, the Partnering to Improve Maternity Care Quality Act of 2010 (HR 6437) in the new Congress. This bill would improve the quality, health outcomes and value of maternity care under Medicaid and CHIP by developing a maternity quality measurement program, identifying payment mechanism improvements, and identifying evidence-based practices. Also, discussed Rep. Roybal-Allard's legislation, the Maximizing Optimal Maternity Services for the 21st Century Act of the "MOMS for the 21st Century Act" (H.R. 2141, previously H.R. 5807), which would promote evidence-based maternity care as a national priority.
