Monitor and evaluate federal initiatives, both authorizing and appropriations related, and regulatory matters regarding: international conservation and foreign assistance funding; the Arctic region; wildlife trafficking; international wildlife conservation funding; forest and freshwater conservation; illegal deforestation & timber trade; illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; plastic pollution; zoonotic spillover prevention; and climate change and renewable energy. Other Specific Activities: Support stronger protections in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and National Petroleum Reserve - Alaska. Support legislation to support the development of renewable thermal technologies, including expansion of the investment tax credit and Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit Congressional Review Act resolution overturned Record of Decision on the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (H.J. Res. 131 / S.J. Res. 91) - oppose Recycling and Composting Accountability Act (H.R. 4109) - support Recycling Infrastructure and Accountability Act (H.R. 2145) - support STEWARD Act (S. 351) - support Legislation to reauthorize the Development Finance Corporation - support, advocate for environmental-related provisions and limiting eligibility of high-income countries DFC Reauthorization Act of 2025 (H.R. 5299) - oppose certain provisions State Department Reauthorization legislation - advocate for inclusion of conservation-related provisions EXIM Reauthorization (not yet introduced) - advocate for environmental integrity provisions National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 - support inclusion of provisions related to plastic pollution, IUU fishing, and tropical deforestation Cultivating Investment in Recycling and Circular Local Economies (CIRCLE) Act (H.R. 4166) - support Support development of legislation to establish a national system of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) The Research for Environmental Uses and Sustainable Economies (REUSE) Act (S. 2110) - support H. Res. 885, Resolution supporting the designation of November 15, 2025, as "America Recycles Day" to raise awareness of, and promote a national discussion about, recycling, and advance the circular economy (support)
