Errors
Reporting an error
How to flag something wrong, and what we'll do about it.
Article
If you think a number, claim, or chart is wrong, tell us. The best way:
1. Capture the page URL where you saw the wrong claim 2. Note what specifically you think is wrong (the line, the figure, the connection) 3. Identify the primary source you think shows otherwise — the FEC filing, the bill text, the LDA disclosure 4. Email hello@receipts.report with all three
We'll look at it. If you're right, we issue a correction at /corrections (it stays there permanently, with the original error preserved + the fix linked + the date).
If you're wrong, we'll write back with what we found and why we read it that way. Either way, you'll hear back. Solo-operator support response target: 48 hours.
Common things that look like errors but aren't:
- "Senator X traded ahead of the markup" — the agent reports facts (trade date + vote date). Whether that's suspicious is reader judgment, not platform editorial. - A dollar range on a stock trade — STOCK Act PTRs report ranges, not exact amounts. We display the range honestly. - A coverage gap — see /data-integrity for what's in the data vs. what isn't. We name our gaps; if your question depends on data we don't have, the hub surfaces "summary loading" instead of guessing.
