Investigation Credits: how they work

The agent does real compute work to answer a question — searches across the data graph, reasons about connections, generates citations. That compute has a real cost. Rather than impose a hidden throttle or risk unlimited losses, we meter the agent visibly with Investigation Credits.

How it works:

- A circular progress meter in the page chrome shows your remaining Credits at a glance - Click the meter to open a popover with details: your tier's allowance, what each agent call costs, and (for paid tiers) a top-up option - Credits spend when the agent does work — not when you save or reopen an investigation - Per-tier ratios are: Tipster (the base allowance, n) · Sleuth (5×) · Investigator (25×) · Reporter (125×) - The absolute numbers aren't published — we meter by the ratio and visualize the burn

We deliberately make this visible. We'd rather you see the budget than discover a hidden cap.

Investigator and Reporter tiers can buy top-up Credits when they exceed their monthly allowance. Sleuth and Tipster tiers can't top up — the conversion lever is upgrading to a paid tier.
